Card for the Week
I didn't intend to only do one card this whole week! I got busy scrapbooking and then my little one came home from Grandma and Papa's... So today I saw this card (cwilliams) on SCS (Splitcoast Stampers) and had to make it. I still have the sketch challenge to do - it is a really good sketch so I plan on it. The color challenge this week just didn't inspire me so I will skip it. Anyway I did the three layer thing again, this time the bird is layered although my husband said it looks like it has a broken wing. Ha! funny, gee thanks. I used Diamond Glaze on the bird to make it shiny and to stand out. I also used my new "sanded" stamp from SU, too cool! I can see lots of things in the future for this background stamp! A lot of the Basic Grey scrapbooking paper looks like this was used on it so now I can kind of make my own BG-type paper. Sanded stamp and a lot of distress ink LOL :)

Different things
My great-niece had to give her cats new homes due to not being allowed to have them where she lived so she gave this one to my Mom (her great-grandmother). She was sad the day she brought her over so my mom suggested we take a picture of her and send it to her. I thought it was a great idea! So I altered this picture frame and put her picture in it. I have never done one of these before so I looked up some ideas and this is what I came up with. I think it came out pretty good, I really hope she likes it! I don't know what colors she likes but this pink paper had words like "memories", "nostalgic", cherish etc. on it so I went with it.
I had two stickers of the cat so I mounted them each on a piece of cardstock, cut them out and then put a pop-dot between them to make it look cool. Then I dyed one of those white flowers with the pink re-inker, which worked surprisingly well! I used too much though, I thought it was dry when I put the white flower in the middle and it bled through. The other picture is an altered notebook, just simple and straightforward. I make these a lot, quick and easy!

More Beach Scrapbook Pages
More of the Myrtle Beach trip, I am done with that vacation now! These are in an 8 x 8 scrapbook. I actually like the 8 x 8 size! It is a lot quicker and easier to do for me. Now I have to finish the Orlando trip and start the CT trip. I am working on a picture frame for my great-niece right now. Waiting for the Mod-Podge to dry! I will post that later.

Yea! I scrapbooked!
I finally got some pictures on pages, woo hoo! It helped that I went to Archiver's and took a class on this adorable board book. It is called Summer Fun (I think, I keep calling it fun in the sun) and it uses Deja Vues Mango collection. It was so much fun to paint the book with these bright, cheery, summer colors - honey dew, mango, sunshine. Then the tags and such were fun to make! I liked it so much I bought the 8 x 8 kit and did another album. I actually combined ideas from the board book and from the other Deja Views 8 x 8 scrapbook I did last Winter - the Pet (dog) Scrapbook.
So today I am posting some of the board book, my next post I will post some of the 8 x 8 book. Of course I wont miss some of my favorite SCS challenges this week and I have a couple of Technique Junkie techniques I want to try. So busy week ahead for me! Until my 5 year old comes home from Grandma's...

Doggies
OK I admit it, I bought the Ruff Days stamp set. I did the exchange thing where I stamped some images in exchange for some of the doggie images and well, had to have it. I was trying to save $ and not buy another set but... I saw it (it is retired) for sale on one of my yahoo groups at a decent price and got it. I am very happy. I have gone nuts making cards with it and here are two of them. I used the color challenge from while I was gone for both. It is Bayou, Chocolate and Sand. The one with the doggie in the diamond is the sketch challenge for this week (both on Splitcoaststampers.com). That's about it this week, I haven't really gotten back into the groove yet and I really need to scrap about 300 pictures. All this card making has gotten me out of my scrapbooking mode! So that is my goal for the weekend - scrapbook!

I'm Back!
I am back, once again! It is great to be home, that was a long but wonderful trip! I am glad I got to do so much and see my family. I miss them, always have because I have almost my whole life lived away from them. While I was there I found this card I had sent to my mom and I had not taken a picture of it before I sent it. I quickly snapped a picture and am posting it here. It is a mosaic, the first one I have ever done so it's not great but the technique is real neat. The "grout" is embossing powder. It just looks cool in person. So even though I haven't had enough time to make a card yet to post I have one for ya anyway!!!
More to come later this week, got to get laundry done and back on my schedule! My oldest goes back to school Monday too. Got to get new clothes and such too! By the way, I only thought it was hot before I left. It was 105 today, an all time record high. Yesterday broke the heat record too. Same expected for the rest of the week. Tell me why I moved to NC? Oh yeah, hubby :)

It's HOT here!
It got up to 103 today! With heat Index it made it 115! That is the hottest it has been this Summer and tomorrow promises to be the same. We do get up to and past 100 but not every year or so the Weatherman says on our local news. The humidity is so bad it looks like fog - Haze hovering in the trees and such. I can't imagine living in the South 100 years ago and no Air Conditioning! I know there are people who still don't have it but that is rare. Brings a whole new meaning to "Sleeping Porch"! SO this is what I did today in my nicely modern 75 degree house. The first card is a case from Dawn5377, I love this card! I made it for my Aunt and Uncle's 66th wedding anniversary. Yes Sixty-Six! I will be going to their party Saturday. So once again I will be away but this time for two weeks visiting my family in CT. House won't be vacant though, hubby is not going this time.
The next card is just one I made, going to give it to mom to give away. I love the color combo so on the last one I used the same colors again for the Sketch Challenge.

Three New Cards
Here are three cards I made last night and today. The first one was for my Mom to give to one of her friends, the second one is a CASE I have been wanting to do, I CASEd it exactly, isn't it gorgeous?! I believe the card was originally done by "Cami". That's all the info I have. The last one is for the color challenge today of blue bayou, soft sky and cameo coral. I had the paper but not the ink and used the alternative inks but it didn't come out as I envisioned it. The medallion just doesn't stand out like I had hoped. I did a lot od doodling on it though! That is one of those flat backed adhesive pearls in the center. Love all these jewels!

A Me Card
Last night I made a few cards to enclose in envelopes with pictures I am sending to family and when I was done I wanted to make more cards (I get on a roll ya know...) and decided to make a card for me. I wanted to use colors I like and this adorable little doggie I got in a stamping swap. So here it is! I have it sitting on my desk and it makes me 'smile'. Now off to get ready for church, I am excited to go back to this new church I am trying.

Urban Couture
I have this gorgeous set of paper by Basic Grey and the is the second card I have made with it. It makes great cards! Interesting though, the papers all match but when use use just part of them on a card it looks like a completely different paper pack! This is all from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper. The sketch is from Captain Crafter's blog. The stamps are from the Touch of Nature set by Stampin Up!. I chalked the bird, I pulled out my chalks the other day and remembered how much I love them! Ink and markers and water color wonder crayons all have their use but chalk is soft and not wet or runny. Good for me to use! I also used a green jewel brad and some brown brads in the corners. You can't tell in the picture but I used pop-dots under the bird, the pink layer and the brown layer on the left hand strip. In person it gives the card a real nice look. Thanks for looking!

Check out my lil one's card!
The top card is made by my 5 year old! I lined the paper up in the trimmer and he cut and scored it, folded it, punched the flowers and stamped the stamps all by himself! He was copying my card below, he loves the Z-Fold card! It is a card in the Technique Junkies Newsletter online bonus (see link to the right under the "check out these sites" section). He picked the colors too, see he picked a nice light blue that works even better than mine! He made his Daddy two cards for his birthday :) Thanks for looking!
Box card
Sort of, not sure what to call this as I can't find the directions on it now! It is super easy to make, one strip 4.25 x 11 and you score it in a few places, cut a slit in the center and then just tape it together! Cut two more pieces of card stock for the sentiment and the picture and adhere. I also ran the long strip through my Cuttlebug with the swirl embossing folder. It is neat how it lays flat in the envelope and then when you pull on it a little it stands up on it's own little stand. I used the color challenge for this week, cocoa, celery and bashful blue. I made it for my husband for his birthday today but it isn't very lovey-dovey! I hope he puts it on his desk :)
