Sketch Challenge Using Paper Scraps

This is the sketch challenge on Splitcoast Stampers for the week, amazing I am on time with this one! I tend to be very literal with my translations of sketches so here is the sketch:

and here is my card:

My only complaint is that I didn't have a smaller oval, that is the smallest one from my Nestabilities dies that I have. I don't have the Stampin' Up punch which I am thinking would fit the sketch size. I used scraps leftover from my pack of Basic Grey Urban Prairie, the birds glued under the clear buttons are cut out of that paper too. The flowers are die cuts from Cuttlebug, I used cool caribbean and the pink from the paper pack. I like the contrast with the black paper. The only stamping this time are the words! I really had a lot of fun figuring this one out and piecing it together - I like a challenge!

Tilda with Sunflower

This is one of my new Magnolia stamps called Tilda with Sunflower. I love sunflowers so I have had my eye on this one for a while. I love this green paper and even though it isn't sunflowers I kind of liked it for this stamp. The orange is pumpkin pie and the yellow is card stock I picked up at a scrapbook store so it doesn't fit any of the Stampin' Up colors. It is a "cool" (as in the warm or cool tones) yellow though. I didn't get the name of the patterned paper. I punched the butterflies out of some pretty orange mulberry paper, it has a nice texture for the butterflies. I put some diamond glaze on the sunflower to give it a little umphh. Wanting to keep my cards simple I once again used layers of cardstock as the interest rather than lots of paper flowers or brads or gemstones, etc.

Hope you like it and I hope you are having a nice Memorial Day holiday. I am thinking of my dad who was in WWII and has now been deceased almost 17 years. God bless those who have fought for our country!

Here are the Rest of the Color Challenge

I pretty much explained these in the last post so here they are! The girl is from Summer by the Sea by Stampin'Up and the flower is the Penny Black one. Very un-embellished! Now that's a new word :) Thanks for looking!

Went Color Challenge Crazy!

I went color challenge crazy! The colors were just so easy to work with and I needed to make 9 or so cards (5 for Survivor and 4 for birthdays) so I got on a roll this week. I left the supplies out and just went and made cards whenever I had a chance. Or more like when I had the inclination as my mojo has been gone lately. The colors for CC218 are - only orange, summer sun and kiwi kiss. I really dislike looking at kiwi kiss by itself but it sure blends and matches well with so many things! It really looks good with just plain white too. Can't say I have used this orange before, pumpkin pie is such a nice orange and this one is very "orange". Summer sun is one of my favorites, the best color for sunflowers! I used Stampin' Up Natural Beauty stamp set, Summer By the Sea set and a Penny Black brushed flower stamp. I am going to post some today and some next time. The cards's today are all from the Natural Beauty set. Now mind you, these are all simple. Little to no embellishments, and rather plain. All of the look is from the paper really, how it was cut, shaped, layered or embossed. I am just not in the mood lately to spend 2-3 hours on just one card if you know what I mean. These are less time consuming and I must say less spectacular but that's ok :) Hope you like!

Happy Mother's Day

I finally made a card for Mother's Day! I just got this watering can a little bit ago from Magnolia. It just hit me right so I bought it. I don't usually buy a stamp I can't think of a particular repetitive purpose for but hey, can't be like that all the time! So I stamped and heat embossed it in black e.p. then colored it with water color crayons. I used the new Basic Grey Wisteria collection paper and just loved the paper and it fit well with the water can stamp. I didn't like the color of blue I had on the can once I put it on the paper but nice thing about water color crayons is you can blend right over the already dried color. So I added sage shadow to the blue I already had and it worked! I decided to cut it out because when I mounted it, it covered the majority of this pretty paper and I couldn't have that! The yellow card stock that matched so well happened to have a piece already embossed in my scraps so I cut it down to fit and used another card stock to mat it. I used my favorite butterflies yet again and done. So there we have it! Happy Mother's Day to all my mom friends, may you feel loved this day!

This is my first try with Flower Soft. It is a pretty material, more or less easy to work with and has a nice effect. After I tried the flower soft on the stamped image it sat around for a few weeks when it just hit me right to make this card with it. I also really like this ribbon, I bought some for a swap and had some left over and now I wish I had more! I will have to find it again. It goes with so many cards and is a little stretchy so it works well.

I have 5 cards due for Survivor - I am out of the running this time! All 6 of mine are voted off. Boo hoo. I couldn't get into this season that much anyway. I haven't made my Mother's Day cards, I owe a few birthday cards and I have got to get back into it! Since vacation I haven't done anything. Lost my mojo or something. I have a swap due in 3 weeks and still haven't gotten the stamps for it (I ordered them from Magnolia-licious almost 3 weeks ago and no response to my emails...), starting to stress a little here! I do however have a Splitcoast stamper gal nearby who offered to give me some images if push comes to shove. That is really nice :) Splitcoast stampers are the best people!

Edited post 2:41 Friday to add:

Oh oh, oh! I got an email today my order has been shipped! Oh yeah, happy now :)

Remember Paris in the Spring?

I still love this set, the lady on her moped cracks me up! Too cute. I used this for a quick birthday card, a "clean and simple" one. No extra frills (well the butterflies are kind of frilly). I had the perfect stamp to make happy birthday written from the exhaust of the bike and I think it came out pretty good.

Just a short one today, hope you enjoy! Have a great day :)

Alota CASE

Look at this cute card! It is a CASE (copy and share everything) of a card made by Michelle Oatman. She is very talented and most of the time I am too busy checking out her donkeys but this card caught my eye (hello, banana split!) My friend loves bees so I showed her this card and she got the stamp which is by Alota Stamps. Wooo Hoo! We had so much fun figuring out how to make this and put it together, I didn't have the same paper but we improvised with the Cuttlebug Swiss dots and the polka dot stamp to keep the "dot" theme going :) We used Diamond Glaze (Crystal Effects is similar) on the toppings and the cherry and Stickles glitter on the whipped cream and the bee's wings. I printed the sentiment from the computer to match the saying she had on her card because it is perfect for it!

Hope you enjoy and check out her blog to see her wonderful creations :)
