Teacher Gift For Halloween

At 7:40 this morning I decided to make a teacher gift for Halloween. Needless to say I didn't have much time! I still had to get my son dressed, his breakfast made and eaten and out the door at 8:45. I don't know what came over me. I made this simple, no brads or charms or tags or details just straight forward stamp and stick. I did add a ribbon though :) We put a couple mini-candy bars inside and I sent him to school with it. I told him it was for her and not to eat the candy! That is a challenge for a 6 year old. So here it is, even though it isn't fancy I wanted to share it for a jump off point for someone to get an idea from. That's how I come up with stuff! Inspiration. Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Birthday Card

Monday lunchtime sketch challenge from Techno Stamper has been inspiring me a lot lately! I have done several now. This is a birthday card meant for Fall but not to be totally Fall colors. Which leaves a lot of choices really. I started with blush rose chalk ink from ColorBox and it isn't anything like blush or rose that I am used to from Stampin' Up. I find that particular ink to work the best with acrylic stamps. Nothing stamps cleaner and more solid that those inks! Anyway I ended up matching it with these colors. They are odd colors together though! Seems to work - Groovy Guava, Basic Black and Riding Hood Red. Hope ya like!

Treasure Box

Here it is!

This little altoid tin is not so impressive on the computer screen to me, but in person I am loving it! The other day one of my friends emailed me with this tutorial and asked if I could help her make some of these. I thought it was awesome! So I had to make one myself to see what I was doing before she came over so I could figure out the short-cuts and mistakes I would make. So this is my trial run but it really came out nice. This took me 4 hours to make but that included looking up the Bible verses and pasting them into a document and printing them out. I used Stampin' Up Afternoon Tea designer paper, bayou blue card stock and ink, wild wasabi card stock and soft sky ribbon. The brads and charms I had in my supplies. The tutorial shows making a "F" for friend one, she used a few pictures of the friend and some verses about friendship. You could make one for most anything. For a baby, a spouse, a mother, my favorite things, etc. Many uses! Mine is some of my favorite Bible verses. Now that was hard, picking only 10! I was trying to go with the 'treasure' theme, what verses I treasure.

I plan on making several different kinds to give away as gifts for Christmas. It's funny, I have made several different things with this tin (one was an 'emergency' kit of chocolates!) but just never did this before. I have made other accordion scrapbook type things - funny how things just hit you right at one given time. Watch the tutorial to see how it's done, it is easy if you have made things like this before. Reminds me slightly of the Jacob's Ladder I did a while back but a lot easier. The link goes to step 6 but if you look below all the video segments are there and you can start it at 1 on your own. If you make one let me know, I would love to see it! Just post a comment here when you finish. I might just have to do a blog giveaway if you do :)

Tomorrow

Ooooo do I have a treat for you tomorrow! I would have had it tonight but my camera's battery needs to be recharged. I found out when I needed it - go figure :) Anyway I made something so fun and I just love it so much I can't wait to share. So this will have to suffice until tomorrow. Good night!

Challenge Card TSSC40

I received a new Tilda from a WishRAK member on Splitcoast and this sketch worked perfect for it! The sketch is from the Techno Stamper Monday lunchtime sketch challenge that I have been participating in lately. I do so much better with these sketch challenges than on my own that's for sure! Love them :) The paper I used is Stampin' Up's last year's InColors and they don't sell the watercolor crayon in the color so I mixed cameo coral and pumpkin pie to make groovy guava for her shirt. I came close, at least closer than cameo coral by itself :) Have a good Monday!

Sheetload revisited

I made another card with this month's design from Sheetload of Cards. I am trying to win the contest to get $25 gift certificate from Clear Artistic Stamps by posting this card and the links :) My favorite stamp set by them is from the Serenity Line called Delicate Moments. I really do enjoy these Sheetload cards, just grab the already cut up paper and stamp! Last month I used it for a swap I am in where I had to make 6 identical cards and it went so much faster. Thanks for stopping by!

Upsy Daisy Stamp set

This set has been used so much on Splitcoast! It was on sale this last month so I got it for my hostess club spot. Here are two cards with it, it is great as a silhouette (stamped in black or brown) with a sunset or a moon or something similar. I just got my re-inkers of the new InColors, I already had some blank stamp pads (1 inch spot size) and just filled them up with ink and now I have the new InColors in spots :) So glad someone mentioned that on their blog so I can do it now too! I don't buy the big pads, I don't like the size and I don't like spending that much money (there are 6 colors each year). Anyway I way over-inked them and the first picture here is the first one I stamped. It was so thick when I stamped it made veins on the flowers that look real! So I kept the image and used it. So if you ever want a really saturated even goopy look, now you know to over saturate your stamp pad. Also, this is the sketch challenge for the week, very cool to make. A bit of a challenge finding a 4 1/2 inch circle to make the outer circle though! The Nestabilities aren't that big, the Giga punches aren't that big either so I used my Creative Memories circle cutting system. I don't know why I don't use it more often!

This one is using the rock and roll technique. You stamp in one color and then you roll the ink pad along the edges to add another color. If you don't want the ink pad to get contaminated, wipe some of the ink off the edge of the stamp before you color the edge. You could also use markers to do this. Well that is all for today, I have made more, this week is a prolific week for me! Check back tomorrow :) Thanks for looking!

This is my October House Mouse SOTM (stamp of the month) for the swap. I'm with them, eat the whipped cream and not the pumpkin, yuck! It's a cute stamp though and I decided to make it a Thanksgiving card after all. I used some scrapbook card stock I had on hand that is two-sided, the orange side and the striped side so it coordinates perfectly on the card! I also used some of the hemp I got from "pink hedgehog's" web-store. Love this stuff, I bought all of the colors and it looks great with them bundled together in groups to match the card. The tag is from the Cuttlebug and that is a turkey stamped behind "give thanks".

The next card is a second card that I made from the Techno Stamper sketch from last week, it worked perfect for this card! My nephew's son - which would be my great-nephew (oh my) is turning 16 this week so I wanted to make a guy card :) I love how this turned out! Once again I went through some of my scraps of scrapbook paper and used it and the matching numbers from that particular scrapbook paper set. The black part is embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I only stamped the happy birthday part. I have 5 more cards to post this week, I've been busy! Check back tomorrow.

Stone wall

I really do have other stamps and have been using them but I keep getting these Tildas and love them! This is the one I bought and the stonewall. I just love it! I wanted to try to use more of all this new pink pirouette paper I have so here it is. I used Basic Gray and Pacific Point papers with it. Since this is a birthday card I feel like I should put a present on the wall beside her or something! She doesn't look real festive but still cute. I will post some other stamps coming up. I just finished my House Mouse SOTM October card and will upload that one soon. Thanks for looking!

Dual Challenges

Here we go! Two challenges in one, ok I know many people combine three and four challenges but this is what it is today. :) I used the Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch and the color challenge of Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip on SCS. Still loving these Tilda's - she is so cute! I used my Cuttlebug and Swiss Dot embossing folder on the background and then used some SU design paper. I added the pumpkin and acorn because the color scheme and time of year fit. Hope you like! Thanks for looking :)

Bella Rose Paper

This months sheetload of cards I chose to use the Bella Rose designer paper from Stampin' Up. I made these two cards super fast from the kit I made (it makes 8 cards). I love this idea, if you need a card real quick and the paper is cut and ready all you do is stamp and adhere! Last month I used it for my swap but this month it is going to hang around for various things I need quickly.

One more picture here, my little one has 4 baby teeth out now and he is looking rather toothless! I told him last night he is now "snagglepuss". I have to find that cartoon so I can show him, he isn't quite sure he likes that name!

World Card Making Day

Yesterday was World Card Making Day. Of course we had plans to go somewhere! I just had to make one card at least. I got up early and made this card. I feel like it needs something, either some crystal effects or some stickles or something shiny or sparkly! I spent some time trying to figure out how to do the "light thing" - you know like Thomas Kincaide painter of light does with his pictures. I need to research this and find out how to do it, the only thing I can figure is to use brighter colors in those areas but how do you decide what areas? I am finally getting a glimpse of a clue on how to do shadowing (and I am by no means accomplished in that) but this one is hard. I couldn't sleep last night (what's new with my snoring hubby LOL!) and watched CreationScapes on Daystar at 3am and really payed attention to where the light came through the trees and where it hit the waters and the birds and it was pretty random. Most of the time thought it seemed the tree trunks and grass were shady and the leaves were sunny. Other than that a spot of sun might go through the leaves to the ground but gosh, that is way beyond me to color in a cornucopia LOL! I have seen a lot of beautiful cards on Splitcoast from the challenges yesterday, check them out! Here is a link to the cards in the challenges: World Card Making Day Gallery.

Pretty in Pink Tilda

Here is another Tilda! I received her from WishRAK on SCS, thank you Lori! She is just as adorable as the rest, even more so I think! Well I did it. I ordered one. Eeeek! I ordered a sitting one and a pretty stone wall for her to sit on. I spent money on a stamp shhhhh don't tell hubby LOL! So I will be sure to post it as soon as I get it! Now for this one. I used the pink pirouette designer series patterned paper, mellow moss and chocoloate chip. I even had the flowers to match! It is kind of pastel and light. I put stickles on the flower she is holding and I had these tiny little pink rhinestones and I mean tiny, impossible to pick up even with tweezers but I managed to glue them on. That was hilarious, they kept flipping over and I think there is more glue on the front than the back! I used the rectangle shaped nestabilities for the scalloped edge. Hope you like!

Hello Sun...flower!

Sun-shine, sun-flower - I am really enjoying Fall because the -sun- is not making me miserable anymore! The weather is beautiful! I have the windows open in the house (which my Southern born and raised husband will close and crank down the A/C as soon as he walks in!) and enjoying the fresh air, the fresh smells and the outdoors. It is supposed to be in the 50's overnight! I think I will walk my son to school in the morning :)

Here is a card for the color challenge, I decided to color the sunflower yellow anyway even though it isn't in the color challenge scheme. I think you still get the idea of the green and blues. The layout is from a card I saw made for another sketch challenge a while back, not a SCS one and I have no idea who did give credit to for the sketch. I did add the grommets though :)
