Aww drats, I am back
I hate leaving the beach! It is so nice, the waves and the air, you know "the beach". I have not made a card since I got back! Granted it was only two days ago but still, I see so many wonderful challenges on Splitcoast and I don't know where to start! Plus my lil one is home all week and bored to death and I don't have a minutes peace. He is chatting in my ear right now as I type. So I guess I will go find something for him to do!
Here is a picture in front of our condo at Myrtle Beach with the lil one sitting in his beach chair in the water.

Wooo Hoo!
I am so excited! ScrappinTrish has named me for Rockin' Girl Blogger! She said my blog was the first one she ever visited and let me say I am totally honored! She has created her own blog that is awesome! Here is a link to her blog - miss trish. Thank you so much Trish! I have seen blog challenges, blogs being tagged, blog candy and I just haven't had the chance to participate but I am thinking now that I have a stat counter to do a blog candy giveaway myself coming up when I hit a big milestone for my blog. So stay tuned, details will be on a later post. I think I am to name a rockin' girl blogger now myself so when I get back, I will announce who! Woo Hoo!

A Wow card at least to me!
This card is so awesome! I am not tooting my own horn, I make tons of cards and every once in a while one just stands out to me and this one is it. I used that Tapestry technique again but used the color challenge of the week's colors. Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Bordering Blue & Not Quite Navy. After I used the clear embossing powder on it I saw that the artichoke was way too dark so I had to be careful not to use that part of the paper. I stamped the dragonfly with Stazon black, works well on the embossed surface. The Cuttlebug background came out well too, plus I had these square brads that matched the bordering blue. I just think the tapestry part makes the card. So that's it for tonight!

Busy Week
I have been quite busy this week and I can't believe it's almost Thursday! I have not even made another card since Monday morning. I am posting a card from a while back just to have something new here LOL! I am also going to the beach Sat. for a week (ok this time I mentioned it!) So I won't be making cards. I will miss it! Anyway I will try to post one more time this week but for now here we go :)
I stamped and cut out each of the flowers and then adhered them onto the card. It took me forever because I am not a good scissor person, never was. I get all hand cramped and such because I grip the scissors too tight. I see some people just whip around and are done but not me! I was actually taught how to cut properly by my son's O.T. go figure. Anyway I always seem to pick these flowers to cut and it is torture! The end result though is always great.

Cards for Monday
I saw this card on this blog LindaStamps4Sanity where you stamp on Vellum and use it as the card base. I used Adirondack ink which dried relatively quickly on this adorable hummingbird. I cant get enough of that hummingbird! Anyway it looked really cool then I put the white and cool caribbean piece on the inside to give something to write on and now I don't like it as much. I will try this again and see what else I come up with!
Then we have Monday's challenge Technique Lovers Challenge. Today is called Tapestry and the technique is on SCS. Beate made a nice tutorial and it was super easy to follow. It only took 20 minutes to make! I used three colors of blue. I had to get this in the mail before the postman came so I didn't embellish it much or add other layers. I think it is a pretty background though and will make more cards with it!

Back in Blue
The color challenge this week included blue and then of course every time I use bright colors I end up on a roll! So here are two cards using brights and lovely turquoise in both. Love the SU turquoise! Not much else to say today, I am at the pool with my little swimmer, they have WiFi now too - Yippeeee! Seems like everywhere I take him there is WiFi now, gotta love it! Back to surfin' Splitcoast - have a great weekend!

Just a few pics of our fun time at the Nickelodeon Hotel. The awesome giant orange slide that dumped buckets of slime :) Heaven for a 5 year old and well let's just say Dora has a crush on my 15 year old. She even told him to call her. Hmmmm. We went to a party with Sponge Bob - the Bikini Bottom bash! Lot's of fun with Sponge Bob and Patrick. They even had daily auditions to be on the nightly show on Nick TV. We definitely will go back there.

Casing the Catty
The Splitcoast Stampers website Friday challenge of Limited Supplies is to case the catty this week (the new SU catalog that came out July 1st). So I did one and had so much fun I did two more! I substituted colors and stamps as needed but the general layout is what I was after. Wow, these cards are easy! Just a few layers but they look so nice. Clean and crisp. Also I noticed every single card in the catalog is on colored cardstock, no card fronts on white cardstock. I was thinking that would be expensive but actually the little pieces of cardstock layered on are so small ultimately you might use less! I don't like to use darker card stock because you can't read what is written inside but I guess you just don't use the darker ones as a base. Or write with a white pen :)

Red and white and No Blue!
One of the Splitcoast challenges this week is using ribbon in a different way. So I did! Way different. I made a flower with it. I had these enormous brads that I just knew I wanted to use to make the center of the flower and that also made my color theme. The 'layout' is also the sketch challenge of the week. Sometimes a card just comes together and other times it works ya to death! The second card did just that! I finally said enough. It was only supposed to be a quick note in a RAK packet I was sending anyway. I just used some die cuts from my Cuttlebug that I had laying around. Some of the dies have more than one and I use maybe one flower and then have the rest that got cut with it so I toss them in a little container and pull them out when I think of it.
Funny how it goes with posting a card, I put the ribbon flower up on Splitcoast this afternoon and it already has broken records for comments and favorites than my other cards. Now don't get me wrong, I like the card, but there are a couple in my gallery that I love - even more, and they only have a few comments. I think a lot of it is how the image appears on screen versus holding it in your hand. Some colors and textures look better in person and some look better in media.
Red and white and no blue!

Fun "case"
I saw this purse card somewhere and had to case it! Just can't remember where. It is a scrapbooking-type card in that it is scrapbook paper and is cut and pieced together with very minimal stamping. I also used some scrapbook embellishments like the large cabochon nail heads (not sure what to call them?) My friend got them in one of her scrapbooking club kits and kindly gave them to me. I have no problem finding use for these things! The card stays closed with self adhesive Velcro.
The next card is a very quick one I made for a thank you note. I used the color challenge from two weeks ago again, I had some leftover already cut so I put it to good use. I am bummed the red smeared on the butterfly when I put on the stickles glitter. Kind of makes it look sloppy. Now I am not sure if I should send it!
I noticed on a lot of these stamping card blogs they are writing the "recipe" for the card, that is - what color card stock, what stamps what ink what accessories and how it was made. Should I do that here? I don't know if anyone is interested or not? I personally don't need them when I make cards but some people want to be sure they use the exact same SU colored card stock. So let me know if you want me to be more specific!
Here is another sneak look at my little one having a blast in Orlando. Check out his bedroom in the hotel room we stayed in! We had a less "scenic" master bedroom but one wall was chartreuse and the living room area had one picture of Patrick on one wall! He said he wanted to live there :) I don't blame him a bit :) I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July! Celebrate our freedom and prosperity and thank God for it!
